John Nieman’s unique paintings playfully connect the less-than-linear linkages that exist in our contemporary world. A New York-based conceptual realist with a pop culture twist, his work often combines iconic visuals with lists of luminaries, events, and phrases. His paintings have been awarded and honored in international exhibitions. In the past two years, he has been shown in dozens of galleries, including venues in Italy, Germany, Canada, Thailand, and throughout the United States.

Abstract

My art is my state of mind. My state of mind stems from my subconscious. My visualization process connects my subconscious to my consciousness. By creating a visual subconscious, I can share my state of mind with the public. My state of mind includes not only internal thoughts but external experiences; impulses, images, emotions, daydreams, and elements from my daily life. The elements coming from my subconscious are both spontaneous and deliberate. This visual language allows me to share my sarcasm, humor, sadness and fantasy. Viewers can discover, see and enjoy these experiences through my art.

Born: 16 January 1934, Bayonne, NJ. Educated in Roselle Park, NJ schools. Graduated from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, 1952 with a BA degree in English and Art. Studied briefly at the Art Students League, NYC with Julien Levy. Have painted well over 60 years(career briefly interrupted by cheerful “greetings” from the government for a two year tour of duty with the US Army). Worked until retirement with Allied Stores, NYC, as assistant art director and with LeDonne, Wilner and Weiner theater advertising agency, also in NYC. Consider myself a “modern realist” painter. My concentration on color harmony, linear energy and visual field depths is what I bring to my two favorite mediums: Acrylics and Pastels. Emphasis on solid drawing techniques rules before the wary muse allows the application of color. I rarely rework a painting or drawing feeling that “what precedes dictates what follows” and, by embracing this literature, ensure pleasing results.

Joseph Swenarton was born during America’s “baby boom” and raised in Washington, D.C. He painted from early childhood, fascinated by the use of color to show what he saw and felt. Joseph’s parents knew he was gifted, and encouraged him to develop his talent. He studied art at Montgomery College and left school with improved skill and urgent need for insight. During this time Joseph worked in many different mediums including pencil, charcoal, pastel, and oil. It would not be until later however that he would find his passion for working in acrylics.

In 1985, he moved to Key West. There, Joseph Swenarton began to find his artistic footing. He resumed painting with renewed energy, using vibrant colors to translate the tropical beauty around him. Swenarton’s earliest significant body of work, Joseph’s Garden, was comprised of the stunning florals and landscapes he painted while living on this beautiful island.

Oil Paintings

Since I was a child, I have loved the arts. I have taken formal training in dance, music, painting and photography. Though I love them all, painting has become my passion. The style I choose is Abstract Expressionism because I feel emotion deeply and wish to project this world of intangibles onto canvas. I paint with oils because I am drawn to color and oils provide a deep, rich color. I am most inspired by life – its’ passion and emotion. I will experience something and feel a need to paint it. I hope my art reaches the viewer on an emotional level, pulls them in and never lets them go.

Oil on Canvas

I was born in 1967. My hometown of Odessa is in Ukraine on the picturesque coast of the Black Sea. Education is Art Out- School (1976- 1981) Special College of Art and Design in Odessa, Ukraine (1982-1986). Previous art works is in private collections of Norway, Russia, Europe, Japan.

Décor and art is my first love…..I like to create and put flowers on the canvas. Those flowers of a paradisiacal place in the late afternoon, the abundance of romanticism, I am charmed with the late afternoon overcast of the sea. I love the color of the clouds, as they take, when the sun becomes lost in the distant horizon…..My colors are gold and blue, silver and red …..Every flower is distinct, different with character, and I believe there is nothing more romantic than “still life”, captured in a moment of time.

This place known as a canyon of dreams was greeted with a respect for what was fascinatingly being accomplished by human minds and hands. The skyscrapers and structures were identified as works of amazement in a land of infinite possibilities.
