RUSTY WAHL
Sanford, FL
A true artist takes risks, explores, is fearless but most of all I want the viewer to be touched and feel a surge of emotion. What I strive for are abstracts that are dynamic, sophisticated compositions with radiant colors.
This quote from an art lover is special to me. “Your art is like a beam turning a searchlight on all of life’s facets big and small, intricate relationships. Creativity at its best.”
My passion and experiences in all the arts: theatre, music, dance as well as the visual arts is the most significant impetus in all my creations. The direction I follow is to use these memories and emotions to create an explosion of color and design.
Since the age of 12 my dream was to be a performing artist and a painter. At the University of Miami I continued painting, taking theatre courses and received an Education degree. Some of my classmates: Jerry Herman and Majel Barrett Roddenberry found careers doing what they loved.
From 1972-1992 I was editor of Sunshine Artist Magazine and had the opportunity to travel to outdoor shows in southern states, meet creative artists, judge a few shows and make wonderful friends.
My paintings and photography have strengthened over the years to become more dramatic, yet retain the rich vibrant colors I see everywhere. Struggles, tears, defeats are also expressed in my work but seldom over-shadow the joy of life. No matter what the future holds in this economy and turmoil all over the world, we must hold up our heads and go on. Without art, there is nothing !
