AMY DRUCKER
Katonah, NY
I am an artist and designer, trained and practiced in finding and celebrating beauty. From photography and graphic design to quilting and writing, I use multiple media to capture the commonplace truths of everyday life.
I studied photography and design at the University of Maine, The Pratt Institute, and the International Center for Photography in my hometown, New York City. My background in film and darkroom technique—now translated into a love of digital processing—allows me to conceptualize images and to achieve them. While I do believe that great subjects are around us at all times, I also believe great images are the result of vision, discipline, and craft.
I am never without my camera, capturing small moments from amid the chaos of daily life—perfect in their imperfection. Life is messy and ordinary and hectic, and we sometimes overlook its beauty. Photography is my way of noticing.
My photographs are the confluence of so many things I hold dear: light and color, shape and form, design and technical knowledge, everyday life and astounding loveliness. It is my honor to share them with you.
