MICHAEL CABABE
Las Vegas, NV
Michael Cababe was born in Oakland, New Jersey where he believes the best of both worlds reside; the scenic setting of northern New Jersey and the stimulating energy of New York City. Michael had no formal training as an artist as he saw things differently; he is colorblind. Yet, this impairment did not act as a roadblock for his passion of drawing and painting. In early 1980, he moved to the city of Chicago with his family where he continued his passion and earned a Bachelors’ Degree in Fine Art at Columbia College, School of Art and Design. His studies in Chicago, led Michael to focus on the use of negative space, line, texture, and color, which served as a tool of expression in natural surroundings; his surroundings. He did this with an emphasis of watercolor paints and colored ink.
After spending time in Chicago he moved to southern California in order to broaden his ideas and techniques. His time in California allowed him to experiment with acrylic paints. He is currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada, in which he calls home. He is a husband, father, and teacher. Michael teaches at an elementary school where he believes minds to be more creative and less judgmental. He continues to challenge his audience’s eyes with his unique style through the placement of color and shape. Michael enjoys developing new ideas and loves to keep his audience and collectors guessing as to what it is they are viewing, his work leaves the interpretation to the viewer.
