CAROLE ORR
Houston, TX
The very act of painting gives me great pleasure, and my work helps me to acknowledge the gift of receiving. Hopefully it comes full circle in threefold--giving, receiving, and returning. Intuition leads the way through the creative process, with echoes of visual memories drawn from imagination and emotions. I like to show movement with an image of a scarf in the breeze, a bird in flight, a leaf in the wind, a bow caressing a violin, a swish of a horse's mane-which to me is symbolic of time.
During the process of painting, my aim is not to make a statement. My art has to do with my feelings and finding a balance with the materials I work with. It may be quite awhile, months or more before I understand the meaning of a painting. The last thing I do, after signing it, is give it a title.
