DAN MONTESI
Miami, FL
Dan Montesi is a product of the sixties who loves all things retro. He was born in the North East but migrated to South Florida to work as a crisis counselor after Hurricane Andrew. As a counselor, Dan works with a wide variety of populations; from young children to adolescents and adults. It is a counselor’s job to assist people through what could be considered the worst times of their lives and because of this, he is no stranger to tragedy, conflict, depression, and existential crises.
All counselors need something to decompress from their difficult jobs and for Dan photography is it. He has been actively photographing people, places and things for more than twenty years and has compiled thousands of images. Dan has a wide variety of photographic interests; history, wildlife, and abstract photography are his favorite subjects. As for photographic style, Dan likes to use long shutter exposures to capture movement and or deep color saturations. True to his retro-personality and despite all the new advances in photo-technology, Dan’s favorite camera is still his 1950’s Roliflex.
